Treking
The Fann mountains are the most accessible, lying just a day’s drive from Dushanbe and just across the border from Samarkand in Uzbekistan. Here it is possible to make treks of up to a week crossing high mountain passes and camping beside azure lakes. Some of the peaks are relatively easy to ascent and can be combined with a trekking trip. Read more...
The Yagnob Valley
The people of the Yagnob valley have preserved their culture and traditions, including elements of the Sogdian religion, Zoroastrianism. Lake Sarez, 60 km long and containing an estimated 17 cubic km of water is quite young. It was formed after an earthquake of colossal proportions on 18 February 1911 in which two cubic kilometres of rock were dislodged, burying Usoi village and blocking the Murghab River. Read more...

Pamir Jeep Tour
It is possible to make a circular tour of the Pamir starting and finishing in Dushanbe but inevitably some of the ground is covered twice. Alternatively, we can arrange with our Uzbek and Kirgiz partners for itineraries to start in Tashkent or Samarkand, and finish in Osh or Bishkek, enabling you to traverse Tajikistan from West to East or vise versa. Bicycles, horses and rafts
Cycling is an excellent way to see the country and experience the culture and hospitality at first hand. A long distance cycle tour of the Pamir highway is a demanding physical proposition for both the cyclist and the bike. We do not have our own stock of bicycles and good quality mountain bikes are not available for hire or purchase in Dushanbe so you will need to bring your own bikes. We can assist with visa and permit support and accommodation in Dushanbe. (Rick and Zuhra have the only tandem in Dushanbe but it is not available for hire!) Read more...
Cultural trips
Tajikstan has a wealth of fascinating historical sites that befits its position at the crossroads of the silk route. The greek temple on the Oxus, close to the point where the Oxus treasure was found (now in the British Museum), the ancient city of Penjikent, the largest figure of Buddha in central asia and the fortress of Hissor where the red army finally crushed the Basmatchi all bear witness to a rich and colourful history. We include the most interesting local historical sites in our tours along the way but we can also arrange tours with a specific focus on these places. Read more...
